Simon James Fong方正天，毕业于澳大利亚拉筹伯大学，获得一级荣誉工程学士学位和计算机系统博士学位，分别于1993年和1998年获得计算机系统学位和计算机科学博士学位。

现为澳门大学计算机与信息科学系副教授、南非德班科技大学信息学院兼职教授。澳门大学科技学院数据分析与协同计算研究小组的创始人之一。

在从事学术工作之前，曾在澳大利亚和亚洲担任过多个管理和技术职位，如系统工程师、IT顾问和电子商务总监。

已发表SCI论文500余篇。期刊论文被引用超过11800次，i10-index超过237分。主要涉及数据挖掘、数据流挖掘、大数据分析、元启发式优化算法及其应用等领域。担任Elsevier的《网络与计算机应用期刊》、IEEE的《IT专业杂志》以及SCIE索引期刊的多个专刊的编委。

在研究领域担任多个重要职位，如IEEE计算智能学会（CIS）"商业智能与知识管理"工作组副主席、IEEE ComSoc e-Health SIG TC主席以及国际科学与工业优化与建模联合会（iCOMSI）副主任。

自2021年12月起，被提名为国家中组部专家，受中央政府委派承担重点科研项目。负责国家级省市级重大项目累计受资助已超两千万元。

主要研究领域为：医疗数据挖掘、医疗数据分析电子健康、医疗人工智能应用、早期癌症诊断、深度学习/机器学习、元启发式优化算法。
